Gun Outfit bring their dark, captivating indie rock to BAR

At one point, indie rock band Gun Outfit was based out of Olympia, Washington, but the weather proved too much for their principle members Dylan Sharp and Carrie Keith (guitar, vocals, both) that they both decided to head for warmer climes, and landed in Los Angeles a few years back.

White Lung bring their scalding punk attack to New Haven

There comes a time in any worthwhile band's career when they make an album that will get people to stand up and pay attention. For Vancouver, noise-punkers White Lung, their second album "Sorry", which was released last year on Deranged Records, provided the band with such a moment.

Will Hayes of Wolves At Bay sits down and talks.

Wolves At Bay have been on a non-stop ride of touring and writing for the past year.  They are one of the few bands in the area that are out there “doing it”, and it shows. They are full of energy and are one of the most tight knit bands in Connecticut today.  They signed to Animal Style Records out of Los Angeles, CA  ( a label that also includes Connecticut hardcore heroes With Honor) and are now on the verge of releasing their second full length record titled “I Was the Devil Once”.  I recently sat down with Will Hayes who is the Singer/guitarist of Wolves at Bay and this is what he had to say…

2nd Annual CTINDIE.COM SUMMER MIX TAPE Submission Request!

I know it keeps snowing and getting warm but that just means it's time to start gearing up and thinking about summer again! Last year's CTIndie.com Summer Mix Tape D60 was so successful, we put the link in the top right corner of our page and there it has remained into the new year, still acquiring hits steadily. So we are gonna do it again, this year. Send us your music to ctindiemusic@gmail.com or just drop box it to us using the link on the right side of the screen.

Submission Guidelines:

You may submit as many tracks as you like. We will select our favorite and put them on the tape. We may choose one or two songs depending on a multitude of factors (total running time of tape, how much we really like the songs, etc...). There are NO genre restrictions, and I would like to add that we generally prefer stuff that's harder to categorize.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JUNE 1ST! So get us your tracks by then.

These sequences will then be constructed for release in the first week of June on our SUMMER MIX TAPE SOUNDCLOUD (yes, the old tapes will be taken down). Also, like last year, we here at CTIndie.com will make (at our own personal expense) CD's and/or Tapes to be passed out at shows all summer for FREE. I know last year we proliferated 100 sets of the double CD and nearly 50 double tape sets. We encourage, nay, IMPLORE all of you featured on the tape or not, to make and distribute as many copies of these mixes as possible. Get the word out about your favorite bands. Tell everyone how impressively abundant CT music really is!
And get yourself psyched up for a long awesome summer of dope ass shows.

To remind you all of how awesome last year's double tape was, here they are (for now!)

New school heshers Cauldron get ready to lay waste to Dewey's Pub in Seymour with NWOBHM legends Diamond Head

Metal has splintered into many different genres of extremity over the years, but despite the fact that there will always be some band trying to take it louder, faster and growlier, there will always be a need for bands that honor the past by playing prefix free metal. You could call this keeping it tradish, but these new sets of band look to pay homage to the traditions of the past, mainly the early-to-mid eighties by playing music that is full of galloping rhythms, monster hooks, boundless energy and in most cases clean singing. Granted they do all this with a modern touch.

METZ bring their amp destroying sound to Cafe Nine in New Haven

Right now, there seems to be a whole bunch of independent minded musicians, who are turning up their amps and playing with a bloodthirsty glint in their eyes. These new miscreants blend the louder and noisier side of indie rock with punk, hardcore and even metal, to create amp exploding music of great intensity and visceral thrills.

The Arc Agency Presents: Loma Prieta and Goodtime Boys Take Prospect on April 4th

California's Loma Prieta (Deathwish Inc) have spent the past month making their way across the US (including a stop in Austin for SXSW) and will be stopping in Connecticut this Thursday at the VFW in Prospect. If you saw them last year at The Saddest Landscape's record release (where they arguably stole the show) then you already know what to expect. Since 2005, Loma Prieta have released four different LPs (including 2012's IV) and two 7"s of their trademark angular, screamy and aggressive hardcore which at times channels Saetia, Off Minor or Ampere into bursts of heartfelt aggression. Joining on this tour, coming all the way from the UK are Goodtime Boys (Bridge Nine) whose new LP What's Left to Go is one of the freshest releases I've heard recently in an otherwise derivative field of melodic hardcore bands.
