SWAN DAY 2013 SATURDAY 3/30 @KELLY'S PUB IN MANCHESTER

For some weird reason I can never wrap my head around, women are still most often given the short end of the social stick. It is 2013 and still women of all professions and walks of life are discriminated against, marginalized and their victories ignored. You can celebrate women in art in CT on Saturday at Kelly's Pub and Steak House in Manchester for the SIXTH ANNUAL SWAN DAY!

2nd Annual CTINDIE.COM SUMMER MIX TAPE Submission Request!

I know it keeps snowing and getting warm but that just means it's time to start gearing up and thinking about summer again! Last year's CTIndie.com Summer Mix Tape D60 was so successful, we put the link in the top right corner of our page and there it has remained into the new year, still acquiring hits steadily. So we are gonna do it again, this year. Send us your music to ctindiemusic@gmail.com or just drop box it to us using the link on the right side of the screen.

Submission Guidelines:

You may submit as many tracks as you like. We will select our favorite and put them on the tape. We may choose one or two songs depending on a multitude of factors (total running time of tape, how much we really like the songs, etc...). There are NO genre restrictions, and I would like to add that we generally prefer stuff that's harder to categorize.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JUNE 1ST! So get us your tracks by then.

These sequences will then be constructed for release in the first week of June on our SUMMER MIX TAPE SOUNDCLOUD (yes, the old tapes will be taken down). Also, like last year, we here at CTIndie.com will make (at our own personal expense) CD's and/or Tapes to be passed out at shows all summer for FREE. I know last year we proliferated 100 sets of the double CD and nearly 50 double tape sets. We encourage, nay, IMPLORE all of you featured on the tape or not, to make and distribute as many copies of these mixes as possible. Get the word out about your favorite bands. Tell everyone how impressively abundant CT music really is!
And get yourself psyched up for a long awesome summer of dope ass shows.

To remind you all of how awesome last year's double tape was, here they are (for now!)

Nightbitch Commands You To Celebrate The Release Of Their New EP

Well, our favorite sleaze hounds, Nightbitch are about to release another vinyl EP, and guess what, they'll be celebrating this event with a show at Cherry Street Station in Wallingford this Saturday. The "Chainmaker" EP features two new 'Bitch jams, "Disrober" and the title track, as well as a cover of Deep Purple's "Into The Fire". These along with the "Peculiar Worship" cassingle which just came out a little while ago and feature the first recordings with drummer Chris Taylor Beaudette's killer pipes. It should get you all hot and bothered for a full length which is surely soon to come. (See what I did there?) So we decided we would send some questions to guitarist Ryan Adams and here are his answers, probably written in between viewings of Jess Franco flicks. Below we touch on the new release, the vinyl release show and the potentially controversial "yacht rock" project that has been mentioned in other circumstances. Enjoy. (And remember Nightbitch also features Mark Eles on bass. Don't want to leave him out.)

Werewolf Police - The Moderation Blues

Berlin's Werewolf Police have added another impressive weapon to their arsenal, continuing to build on the driving lo-fi rock foundation of last year's “Vulture Club EP”. Their latest full length release, “The Moderation Blues” packs a mean punch, all the while possessing an unrelenting soothing quality, resulting in a seamless balance of hard rock and pop that’s bound to keep anyone engaged.

Wrist Like This Cassette Review

Any band that Matt Potter is in I have to take a second look at. So when he came up to me at The Oasis Pub one night and was going on about this new band, Wrist Like This, I knew immediately that it was something I needed to listen to.

Helen Money brings her dark, captivating sound to New Haven

photo: Travis McCoy

Alison Chesley, aka Helen Money, is a classically trained cellist, who has made a name for herself in the loud rock world. Whether contributing to other bands works or on her own CDs, Chesley is an enthralling musician, crafting dark and somber music that has the ability to move the listener.

KINGS - "WE ARE" Video

Kings are working on some new music, and to start teasing us about it here is an amazingly awesome video for "We Are". The video is by Sarah Lasley who intends on making a video for every song from a new song cycle that John Panos is working on, which will probably end up as an LP. This is a video you don't want to miss! Beneath the video are links to the soundcloud for the song "We Are" and its possible 7" bside "You Don't Have To (Txt Me)"
