New London's The Suicide Dolls are throwing an end of the year party with two awesome Massachusetts bands, The New Highway Hymnal and Velah!!! Come down to The Oasis Pub on 12/29 for a rockin good time!
From the FACEBOOK EVENT:
Come down to the Oasis & help us bid farewell to 2012...We've had a great year & we're in the mood to throw down! We're really thankful for all the love we've felt in 2012, and everyone who comes through the door will get a little present, just because we love New London, we grew up here, and we think you're all pretty rad.
We've played some of the coolest shows we've ever got to play this year, and we've got to play with some really fucking great new bands. We like to bring New London some of what we find out there, and our last show of 2012 is easily one of the best. We think you'll dig these bands as much as we do... CHECK IT:
THE NEW HIGHWAY HYMNAL:
Label-mates with I AM Festival veterans Bearstronaut, The New Highway Hymnal are generating a ton of buzz. They were named one of the 10 Massachusetts Bands You Should Listen to Now by PASTE Magazine, and Matt Lee of The Big Takeover had them in the magazine's Top Ten Picks for October.
They were nominated for "Best Act of 2012" by the Boston Phoenix and they played a successful showcase at SXSW this year.
Paste describes them as playing "loud, bluesy, reverb-soaked rock that interweaves psychedelic punk with twangy guitars"...
You do not want to miss this band. Visit their bandcamp listed above to see for yourself, and check out this article from Vice Magazine:

VELAH:
This sparkly new band rose from the ashes of two beloved Boston bands that called it quits in 2011, and they've been garnering a lot of attention up there this year... and after seeing them live, it was easy to see why.
Velah create atmospheric sonic landscapes that dismantle and reassembles elements of noise-pop, shoegaze, and post-punk with shimmering guitars, lush synths, and a thunderous rhythm section.
“If you took a prima donna, handed her a Gibson, brought her up onstage alongside three guys with a fever for reverb and gave them the green light to wrangle their inner demons before an audience, you’d get Velah."
--PASTE Magazine
Both their live shows and first EP, Black Olympia, (released in May 2012), have earned the band critical praise. Black Olympia was followed up by a 7” single called Skeleton House / Rose Wave, which you can listen to on their bandcamp site listed above.
We are really psyched that these two bands are coming down to play in New London, and we're playing, too!
About that...
You may have heard that Ben LaRose has joined the SDs ranks, and while we've been playing with him all over New England and NYC, most of you here in New London have not seen him behind the kit with us yet... we think you'll be surprised at what he brings to the table! Matt Covey is a busy bee, and that bee is about to get even busier. Ben LaRose is a great drummer and super fun to watch... this show is really his NL debut with us, so come and officially welcome him--or throw things at him-- your choice.
Anyway... It's a party, bitches!
