Ted Leo, former frontman of the criminally overlooked D.C. mod-pop outfit Chisel, with his pick-up band the Pharmacists (members of Nation Of Ulysses, The Lapse and Young Pioneers), continues on his unique pop trajectory, somewhere between the jumpy caffeinated pop of his old outfit Chisel, the mod emotion of the Jam, the kick ass rock of Thin Lizzy and the perfect pop of old Elvis Costello. Super smart and sentimental (especially the lyrics: wry and clever, but heartfelt and really unique), but playful and infectious at the same time. New record out on Matador! Ted Leo on what's lame.
Screaming Females:
Formed in 2006, New Jersey's Screaming Females combine scorching guitars with a firmly D.I.Y. approach to create their own brand of indie rock. Mix equal parts Dinosaur Jr. and Sleater-Kinney, the Brunswick trio strives to embody the spirit of indie rock in its purest form. Check out their tour blog. Listen to Arm Over Arm.

06/19 - Portland, ME - SPACE Gallery
06/20 - South Burlington, VT - Higher Ground

Here, I wrote a review of this show:
ReplyDelete.
One of the rare times something was pulled down without anyone saying a thing to me. A lot of fun cleaning up the dead links and having a new site indexing issue to annoy me.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be back up with pretty pics soon.
Too bad the Twitter account wasn't pulled down instead, half the tweets are really dumb
ReplyDeleteJohn runs that. I prefer dumb pictures over dumb text.
ReplyDeletehalf my posts are really dumb too, let's not mince words
